Research Policy of Parimal Mitra Smriti Mahavidyalaya

Preamble:

In order to support Research Culture, Parimal Mitra Smriti Mahavidyalaya offers teaching and learning that fully protects the rights to inquiry, thought, expression, and publication. The College wants to foster a research culture among its faculty, staff, and students in order to foster scientific temper and research aptitudes. By developing an institutional fund and plan for supporting their participation in research and related activities, as well as by providing the necessary resources and suitable facilities, it aids in the realization of the College’s vision and missionand helps to contribute to the development of the country.
Additionally, it seeks to guarantee that the College’s research endeavours adhere to all relevant laws and regulations as well as accepted guidelines and standards for the ethical and safe conduct of research.

Research Committee:

A research committee constituted from the faculty members of the institute will adopt measures for promoting research culture and ensure the implementation of the research policy of the institution.

Aims and Objectives:

  1. Cultivating and encouraging each student’s scientific temperament and research skills.
  2. Supplying the necessary tools and suitable spaces to enable the efficient conduct of research.
  3.  To achieve the vision and mission of the college and facilitate their engagement in research related activities.
  4. Develop rules, procedures for providing research support and supporting all other research-related activities.
  5.  Guide faculty members in the effective integration of research projects with the regular curriculum implementation and curriculum enrichment activities
  6. Promoting interdisciplinary research and establishing modalities for preparing and undertaking joint research projects covering more than one knowledge domain as well as policies for involving external agencies/experts in such projects.
  7. Identifying, collaborating and establishing linkages including MoUs withNational/International/Govt/ Non-Govt/ Industry/ Research organizations and Local agencies to benefit from the activities and programmes conducted by those organizations for widening the scope of the research opportunities, obtaining sponsorships and funding options available.
  8. Encouraging and facilitating the publication of the research work/projects in reputed academic journals.
  9. The college also plans to implement a scheme to support professors who take up research and publish in peer-reviewed journals listed in UGC CARE, Web of Science, Scopus and other reputed platforms, write books or book chapters for reputed publishing houses.
  10. Encouraging and facilitating the presentation/communication of the research work/projects as well as their findings and recommendations through academic events such as workshops/seminars/guest lectures
  11. Listing a special publication page on the College website / dedicated Research and Publication Notice Boards / Digital Notice Boards.
  12. Publications to be shelved in hard copy in a special section in the library devoted solely to publication by college faculty / an online repository.
  13. Seed money for attending conference to present a paper: for registration, or travelling expenses or part thereof up to limit of rupees Rs. 5000/-
  14. Promotion to Professorship on the basis of year of services, and merit and quality of Publications.
  15. Preparing and implementing a research quality assurance mechanism for ensuring that all research activities of the college conform to standard quality specifications.

Quality Assurance in Research:

All of the methods, tools, and resources used to provide assurance of the care and avoidance of oversight with which research has been carried out are together referred to as Quality Assurance in Research (QAR). Typically, QAR is interested in:

  • The responsibilities of those involved in the research
  • Transparent project planning
  • Training and competence of research staff
  • Facilities and equipment
  • Documentation of procedures and methods
  • Research records
  • Handling of samples and materials
  • To create, prescribe, and implement guidelines and protocols to guarantee that all researchers adhere to the research code, the research quality assurance framework, and all other relevant laws and regulations.

Research Policy Implementation Mechanism:

  1. Provide research facilities in terms of laboratory equipment, research journals and research incentives etc. required by the faculty.
  2. Encourage and promote a research culture (e.g. teaching work load remission, opportunities for attending conferences etc.).
  3. Encourage the faculty to undertake research by collaborating with other research organizations/ industry.
  4. Organise workshops/ training programmes/ sensitization programmes to promote a research culture on campus.
  5. Prepare budgets for facilitating staff/students’ research projects.
  6. Approach National and international organizations to fund major and minor research projects undertaken by the faculty / students
  7. Make efforts to improve the availability of research infrastructure requirements to facilitate research.
  8. Develop and implement an official Code of Ethics to check malpractices and plagiarism in research.
  9. Facilitate Interdepartmental / interdisciplinary research projects.
  10. Approach National and international organizations such as UGC, CSIR, DST-SERB, DST, DBT,NATO,DRDO and BARC to fund major and minor research projects undertaken by the faculty / students
